Positive Birth Story

I've always known that I wanted to be a mother and experience what it felt like to be pregnant but I have always had anxiety when I thought about the actual birth. I would hear traumatising stories about people losing too much blood and dying on the table. Childbirth is actual labour and is portrayed as such, we see it all the time in the media with women screaming and mooing in an attempt to birth their babies and I didn't want to go through that. I knew there had to be a different way. That's when I discovered Hypnobirthing. At first I was a little apprehensive about how it could help me until I attended a taster session with Hackney Hypnobirthing and I knew right away that this was something I wanted to do for myself and my baby, I wanted this experience to be as calm and stress-free as possible for the both of us.

It was kismet when I saw that Five More were advertising free Hypnobirthing classes with The Positive Birthing Company. I was able to do the sessions at my own pace on their online portal which made it easier and less stressful for me as I was approaching my third trimester, I was also able to go back and redo sessions if I wanted to. The sessions I found most helpful were the breathing and meditation sessions as this was something I had adopted into my life years ago.

These classes helped me immensely my labour was amazing and I think back at it fondly. The breathing techniques helped me get through my contractions without the use of drugs, only relying on gas and air when I had to push. It also gave me tools to help me advocate for myself and understand what was right for me and what was not when it came to my birthing experience. I was able to have the calm birth that I always wanted thanks to Hypnobirthing and I would recommend every birthing person try it.
