Nadyne
Hi. I'm Nadine, and I'm gonna tell you a bit about my pregnancy journey as a disabled mum. I was 23 and had non-epileptic seizures and endometriosis at the time. At the start of the pregnancy, I suffered with really bad cramping and bleeding.
Because of my endometriosis I was offered scans to kind of reassure me that everything was okay. Throughout, I was violently sick up until the day I physically gave birth. Um, it was not fun. But as much as I was going in and out of hospital, the most they would do is give me some fluids and send me back on my way.
At 36 weeks, her movements to me had severely slowed down. Like, I could rarely feel her kicking, and it just wasn't normal. I also have FND (Functional neurological disorder).
I'd gone into the hospital and they checked me over. They were like, nope, everything's fine.
They put me on the monitor, so I'd hear a heartbeat and then they sent me on my way.
Th next day, I went back because I was like, no. Something isn't right. Again, they put me on the monitor and said everything was alright. They sent me on my way. I went back on the 3rd day and they put me on the monitor.
They took my bloods, and then they said I had to go home to get my hospital bag, and come back. At that time, they said I had OC (Obstetric cholestasis). My hands were really itchy. The palms of my feet were really itchy. And at that point, they said I had to be admitted and stay in hospital until I gave birth.
I was there for a week before I was then induced, after my induction I was in labor for 24 hours before I actually physically gave birth. I ended up having an emergency c section because my body gave up.
I had a seizure during labor, and I was unable to continue.
So my daughter was delivered by emergency c section, but she is here to tell the tale. I just thank God, to be honest, that I listened to myself, I listened to my body in saying no, something wasn't right because if I had continued listening to them and not gone back it could have been a different story.
