Black Maternal Health Awareness Week UK 2026 is Here

Monday 20th April - Sunday 26th April 2026 is the 7th annual Black maternal health awareness week in the UK.

This is Five X More CIC’s 7th Black Maternal Health Awareness Week, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to improving outcomes for Black mothers and birthing people.

Black women are still 2.3 times likely to die in pregnancy, childbirth and 6 weeks after in the UK (MBRRACE, 2025).

Five X More CIC has come together with a host of organisations, individuals and health professionals for a weeklong campaign dedicated to raising awareness about the disparities in maternal outcomes.

Each day will have a different theme (see below) and we would love for you to get involved by reposting, resharing and spreading the word.

This year’s theme is ‘Leading with solutions, not trauma’.

Below is a rundown of the week's activities and social media assets. Please feel free to save them and share on your social media. Follow us and tag your activities with #BMHAW26 and the week's hashtags.

Tuesday 21st April is a day of action!

Black Maternal Health Week UK is happening next week. The theme for the week is ‘Leading with solutions, not trauma’.

On Tuesday there will be a day of action where EVERYONE can get involved.

Help us raise awareness of Black maternal health outcomes in your own way. This is all of our week to take action. You could:

  • Share a post, blog, or video

  • Write to your local MP

  • Host a discussion or awareness session

  • Share key stats or insights from our latest report

  • Challenge misinformation when you hear it

  • Amplify Black mothers’ voices (with care and consent)

  • Ask your local services what they’re doing to improve outcomes

Create your own content and tag us so we can repost and amplify and the day and throughout the week. This week is for all of us!

We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
